Fabbriche di Careggine, village of Val Garfagnana, has a long history. It was founded in the thirteenth century by a colony of blacksmiths from Brescia. After the Estense conquest since 1755 the village, destined to become one of the largest suppliers of iron of the state, was equipped with a mill and enjoyed concessions on transport of materials.
